Through the power of group projects and bad 80’s animation, can two art students overcome the obstacles of creative collaboration? Or are they doomed to a life of repeating courses and missed opportunities for radical friendships?

Negative Space is a mockumentary pilot, with an associated web series.

Negative Space was a perfectly executed glitterstorm of collaboration, complete with exhibition building, animation, the Mandela effect, VHS-wizardry, and some 80s-inspired madness. It would go on to be selected for SVA Premieres and shown in their California showcase, as well as SVA’s Afterschool Special screening selection.

The final thesis film was transferred onto a VHS tape for the exhibition with the help of Ethan Gould. On this genuine CRT TV is a shot of an 80s cartoon manufactured for the film, inspired by He-Man and Jem and other such heavily rotoscoped cartoons. It was animated by Dasha Prosyannikova with backgrounds by Dani Lozada.

An argument I staged between two well-known comics individuals, Mark Sable and Jim Rugg, about the existence of Secret Fable of the Last Neon Star Hero Fighter (in Radical Technicolor), over a photoshopped ebay listing for a poster for the fake television show.
